Videos from Work

OMG I totally forgot about this video for work. On a Monday, no advance notice, no warning, no makeup...and I have lost weight since then but I dig my hair. Please enjoy! I am the unmade chick in black with yellow ducky earrings. Esther is the gorgeous chick that I am talking to.

Why it keeps fading to black I have no idea...

This is our Thank You Video to our great boss Jay. I am at the 3.24 mark.

Vintage Brooch Hair Jewelry

Finally getting around to posting these in my shop, please let me introduce to you my newest product! Vintage brooch hair jewelry!

I take vintage brooches, repair them and then attach them to ribbon covered pinch alligator style hair clips which hold onto even the finest of hair (like mine).

As of now I only have the one in this entry posted in my shop, but a lot more will be available tomorrow after photoshoots for them are done.

Check them out here and please leave me a comment and tell me what you think, Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines! <3 Recipe for Lemon Delicacy

Happy Valentines! Here is the recipe for Lemon Delicacy, Alan's favorite dessert. I hope you love it as much as we do! Enjoy!

I start the Lemon Delicacy (pictured at the top of this entry) with lemon cake batter baked into a jumbo muffin pan. This will yield 6 cakes. Using a box mix will have a lot of extra batter to make other cakes or some other ideas I will post in another entry.

Next cut the bottom off of the cake and place it into a small dessert bowl.

Now hollow out both the top and bottom portion of the cake halves.

And fill them with a strawberry blueberry filling. Easy to make, just use strawberry cake frosting (actually any flavor will work great!) and heat it in a glass bowl for about 45 seconds in the microwave. Make sure the frosting feels more like pudding in consistency. Then add blueberry pie filling (or any pie filling with fruit) about 3-4 tablespoons worth and blend together.

Fill the top half as well, and place onto the bottom half.

For the glazing on the cake, mix lemon juice with powdered sugar, you want the consistency to be a little more runny then cinnamon roll frosting. Use a wisk.

Now spoon the lemon glaze onto the cake, make sure you completely cover the top and have enough in the bottom of the glass bowl to form a good sized pool. The cake will absorb most of this and makes it to die for!

Sprinkle with powdered sugar and garnish with a blueberry and heart shaped toothpick. Place in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours uncovered. Serve chilled.

Now enjoy a very refreshing lemony treat! This is what I made Alan for Valentines day. <3

Beautiful CUSTOM Clothes!

I notoriously hate the clothes that you can get at the retail stores. Sorry fashionistas, but I will not fork over $300 for a scarf to stand out and be unique either...are you crazy?!

By chance while looking for a dress for our Christmas party for last year I came upon this fantastic site. Eshakti.com. And I can't say enough great things about them! They constantly are re-vamping what is available, and make clothes custom fit to YOUR measurements upon request. Even with customization fees I have never paid more then $100 for any single item...even in a full length dress made of 100% SILK! Everything is made in India, but honestly what isn't in retail? Production and shipping is very fast too, and the hand embroidery is mesmerizing! The same quality as vintage wedding kimonos! TO DIE FOR!

Here are a few examples of the items I have purchased, and a tiny bit of advice, if you see something you like you have to pounce on it...once the material is out it is gone forever!

I am plus sized, and they have made all of my clothes very flattering, I could never ask for anything more...well except more clothes of course! Last photo is me in all of my leopard print glory in my fantastic fabulous dress for Christmas. Hand beaded swoon!

Hand embroidered summer, my favorite dress...but mine is royal blue.

100% Silk with hand embroidered peony flowers...classic 50's style heaven!

I had this blouse made with long kimono type sleeves

My favorite silk blouse, hand crocheted detailing down the front.

My favorite dress, in sheer Georgette leopard print with hand beaded tiger eye, fully lined with hidden pockets. It also had tiny lurex metallic threads running vertically in silver and gold. Hair accessory handmade from an awesome artist on Etsy.com

The most awesome photographer let me borrow his wings! :D

I want to learn how to sew again...

I remember way way back in junior high school, I had learned how to use a sewing machine. It was badass and I even made my own pillow that looked like a giant chocolate chip cookie. Lately I am just tired of what anyone sells in my size (I am big but it is cool) as far as clothes are concerned and I want to learn how to sew with a machine again to make my own clothes.

Sad thing is, I can make patterns like you would not believe, and I have to stop myself all the time from filling my mental database with ideas and how to make them. It is cluttered enough as it is. I want mega crazy colors and tons of flowing fabric and hot hot hot cleavage. I have the ideas, hell the drawings, and I gots the patterns all in my noggin...just have to learn the old machine. Maybe my Mom can teach me again?

Anyone have any pointers? Online tutorials? Ack youtube vids?

LOVE YALL and HAPPY VALENTINES!

I hoped we would be spared

So on Thursday I got the biggest scare and heartbreak I think I ever had while at the office. I knew something was going down because of all the meetings that had been held recently by my managers and supervisors. I even asked my manager flat out early last week what was going on and let her in on my observations. She told me not to worry because the meetings were about the new phone system and schedules and training.

My gut knew better.

Thursday morning my manager was at the office (she only stops in once a week on Wednesdays because she is at another office the rest of the week) and I knew something was going down that day. I overheard that she needed to meet with some of my co-workers privately for a meeting. I was hoping it was about the new phone system, hoping that those in that private meeting were just going over needed additional training for the new system that will go live next week.

Soon after my co-workers were pulled into that meeting, my supervisor came up to me and asked me to log off my phone because we were going to the conference room...with everyone else that were not included in the private meeting. We have a conference room with live video feed to the main office across town, we usually go there for company wide meetings. Normally we have company wide meetings on Fridays, unless the owner is out of town or someone else is hosting the meeting. Usually on the video conference before the meeting starts, everyone from the other office is chatting and laughing and waving and saying hello...this time it was deadly silent. I mentioned to one of my buddies that I was scared, I knew something was going on and it was not going to be pretty. He seemed shocked by that and felt the meeting was going to be something totally different.

I wished he was right.

Soon we found out what the meeting was about, seven of our co-workers were just let go due to the economy. Those same co-workers that were not in our meeting but in a private meeting by themselves. The meeting was long, it was so quiet and I am pretty sure everyone I knew cried. These folks were like family to us all and now they are gone. One of the folks was a guy whom I had given my old car too as a gift, so he could have transportation to work instead of riding the bus for several hours each way, waiting in the rain or freezing conditions.

Even though we have two separate offices, we do not have a lot of people in our company. Before the layoff, we had seven people in my department including my supervisor. Now we have only five.

It has just been so heartbreaking and yet I am reassured many times over that for now my job is safe. I am going to prepare for the worst though and hope for the best.

GRAND OPENING!

Howdy Everyone!

GRAND OPENING of my Etsy store has begun!

I offer to you several different types of treasures for your enjoyment.

Original artwork, One of a kind Valentines and Easter handmade jewels left by garden Gnomes are currently on display and waiting for you to take them home.

This purple abstract painting is titled 'Eye' is 6"x6" on a stretched wrapped edge canvas. Painted with acrylic paint and coated in varnish to protect the work. Original, and hand signed on the back.

Over to the right is one of my One of a Kind Valentines, this one being a HUGE paper mache heart painted with a cat lovers dream.

My cat Chugar was the inspiration for this piece, he is always so full of life and love and sunshine.

Tons of bright, happy colors with heart shaped clouds and sun!

Hand painted, and signed on the back. Can easily hang from an interior door knob, or magic indoor tree branch.

Big enough to fill your hand and probably your love bucket (heart) too.

And to your left you will see something truly spectacular.

Deep in my garden I had found a treasure abandoned by the garden gnomes. I can only think that they would leave such a prize to escape for their lives. Maybe they were surprised by an evil wizard that wanted this egg in hopes that it would hatch into a dragon? Who knows? After hours of searching I could not find any other trace that the gnomes had even been there.

Large egg is made of paper mache and painted with acrylic paint in eggplant colors that fade from dark to light. Coated in super thick acrylic varnish for protection and to give the egg a gem like shine.

These are only a small handful of examples of what is available in my store please do stop by and take a peek around. There might be something you have been looking for your entire life just waiting to be scooped up.

Tons of Love,
Kittytreats
