Fun Things That Happened at the Old Apartment

Oh Boy! The memories!

So a buddy on Facebook posted a photo of the snow she got when it snowed here in Houston and I recognized the townhouses in the photo being close to my old apartment! This brought up all of the fun memories of the crime sprees so here is a story for you.

One of my all time favorites was during a couple of days off I stayed home to play video games and it was around midnight and I heard really loud music. I did not think anything of it because when the downstairs neighbors were getting it on they always turned up their music so I ignored it. Someone called the cops about the noise though and I got distracted by the sirens and the yelling so I looked out my window to see what was going on.

Apparently it was not the neighbors but a guy who had stolen a brand new silver corvette and parked it right under my window and was blaring the stereo to kingdom come! And when the cop came and checked things out and realized it was a stolen car he called for backup and the shouting match began! He had his gun drawn and the thief would not get out of the car no matter what.

Now two helicopters are flying over head with the spotlights and the cop is yelling and screaming at the guy along with a few other cops. This goes on until 7am. I could not stay up much longer but I did see the guy get hauled away in handcuffs, but it was non-stop yelling and screaming for hours and hours. The cops caused a lot more noise then the thief!

OMG it is SNOWING in Houston!! And we had fun in San Antonio too!

So I am at work right now and looking out the window. I think I am hallucinating but I am not, it is fur reals snowing outside! IN HOUSTON! HOUSTON! Land of the 85 degree outside, wear shorts and flip flops, Christmas!

And I will cry me a river, I forgot to bring my camera! Hopefully it will still be snowing once I get home so I can take some photos for Alan. *Update I have a few photos here is one with my little snow swan. :)

SNOW! IN HOUSTON!

(No worries, my outdoor kitty Silver is safe dry and warm in the garage where she has tons of blankies and even an electric one to keep her snug as a bug in a rug. Even in weather like this, it stays close to 60 in the garage. It's insulated and everything.)

This past weekend we went to San Antonio for Alan's work Christmas party which I always look forward to every year. San Antonio is sooo romantic this time of year with the Riverwalk and all of the Christmas lights. I will need to dig through my photos to see if I have any good night shots with the lights.

We went all around the Riverwalk, took the boat tour (I love to do this with Alan every time we go...he is probably tired of it but I still love it so much).

They take you all around the horse shoe shaped part of the river and tell you interesting stories of the buildings and such. And I can see baby duckies on the way.

One of my favorite things to see around the Riverwalk are the trees. So large and full of beauty all year round.

I can't get enough of them. Lots of different species there to see and enjoy.

I took this photo of this lovely tree over my shoulder on the boat. :D

Walking along the Riverwalk you will see HUNDREDS of ducks, mostly mallards but to me they are all so beautiful. After all ducks are my favorite bird, they waddle when the walk, are bottom heavy, have shiny black eyes...wait I am not describing myself!

Look at this pretty little momma here! I think I woke her up. Sorry!

We also went to the Tower of the Americas in Hemisfair park and the view was outstanding.
After the work party and diner we went out with some buddies to the local comedy club.

And well happy surprise, the headliner was Carlos Alazraqui, you might now him as Officer Garcia of Reno 911! or the voice of the Chihuahua from Taco Bell and Peter Griffin's boss at the Toy Factory on Family Guy.

He was hilarious and the nicest guy ever, let me give him a hug and take a photo and autographed a couple of DVD's for us!

I just got to know how he does the clown horn trick.

Weeeeeeee SNOW in HOUSTON!

My all time favorite Soaps

Ahhhh nothing says relaxing like handmade vegan soap! Featured here are some of my all time favorite products from my favorite soap shop the Anderson Soap Company at Etsy.com. Out of all of the 'Bath and Body works' type shops, I prefer Anderson Handmade soaps by far, the quality is amazing! Customer service is always great and shipping is super fast too.

This beauty of midnight black is the Anise (Licorice) which smells so fragrant. It is also a 'stink fighter' and fisherman have used Anise for ages to get rid of that fishy scent they acquire.

It is kosher glycerin soap and makes my skin feel oh so smooth! The scent left on my skin is soft and faint and very clean.

Ever tried Fluffy Whip soap? It is awesome, it has the texture of whipped cream and is smoothing like a lotion but lather like a soap! Nothing like you have ever experienced before! Mango Madness and Coconut Obsession are my two favorites.

They carry this in a lot of scents, some are too good to be true and I have to remind myself that I can not eat soap.

A little goes a long way, so one container can last you a good while.

A new product line that I just tried is the Linen and Room Spritz or Spray. I ordered the Homespun Vanilla and the Lavender Dreams.

These work great, helped freshen up a pillow without an over powering scent and even helped freshen a rather large room with only a couple of sprays.

I need to get some more scents soon!

Also new is the wonderful lotions! The Vanilla is the first one I have tried and the scent is amazing. The lotion is kind of liquidy in texture but works fantastic!

My skin absorbed the lotion rather quickly and stayed soft for over ten hours. It has been the best thing so far for my dried out winter skin.

I also highly recommend the luscious lip balm and the solid perfumes and if you want to smell like a rose garden, don't stop yourself from trying the Rose Geranium body wash.

Here is a funny picture of Dennis Anderson (the guy who makes the soaps) and his angelic wife having fun with their fun mustache soaps! Please give them a visit you will enjoy these greatly and they make great gifts!

Ok after work I am taking a bubble bath...twist my arm!

Holiday Shopping Mishaps...

Geez!!!!!!! BUYER BEWARE

I do most if not all of my shopping online, all year round. The only things I can't buy online yet are gasoline and groceries (used to be able to!). And most of the time I never have anything missing or wrong items shipped to me...until this year.

Target.com shipped me 12 huge gold plates instead of 4 stocking holders, but quickly and professionally corrected the mistake. So they are still on my good list.

JamieNoel on Etsy.com is now back on my good list, she resolved the issue with wonderful professionalism even to the point where I am a customer for life. She refunded the item in full, so I took off the negative feedback and left positive.

If the item does come in I am going to pay her what was re-funded to me.

SHE ROCKS!
*Updated 12/7/08

lizarietz on Etsy has a really odd odd odd sense of customer service. I paid for a fantastic wool cloche from her shop on Nov. 6th. I know they are custom made so I know it would take some time, so I was patient with my order. I waited until Dec. 4th to see about tracking info. She writes back saying it was shipped Nov.7th. Impressive, but I still don't have the lovely cloche and the Post Office has no idea where the item is since seller shipped it First Class which has no tracking. Funny thing is...I NEVER got any kind of notification from the seller even my Etsy purchase log says it has not been shipped yet. So I asked for either a replacement to be sent or a refund (Frankly I don't give a damn about the money...I wanted her lovely hat!) and she said I should pay additional to have another one made. In all of my years of internet shopping I have never ever heard of such a thing. What kind of customer service is this? So instead of $45 for a cloche, with her new *discount* pricing I would end up paying $70.00 total for one of her cloche's. She says in the hundreds of cloche's she has sold she has never had one lost in the mail and this is a fair resolution. Not by US law standards or Paypal policies! She says she is not responsible because it says so in her store policies...sorry but US LAW and PayPal polices trump that and since she accepted PayPal as a form of payment guess who wins.

If I had ever EVER asked one of my customers to pay half of their order in addition to what they have already paid to get their order, one that is ILLEAGAL so I would be facing charges and TWO I would be insta fired.

How hard is it to understand that if a customer pays for a good, it is the merchant's responsibility to make sure they get the item? If this were legal don't you think BIG business would be practicing the same 'ethics'?

Needless to say, I am probably going to have to file a claim with Paypal (I am going to give liza a couple of days to come to her senses to give her a chance)...I hate this so much and I have never had to do this before!

*Update, Liza did show proof of shipping but still will not refund the order - 12/8/08 I will no longer do business with her.

Signing off, oh and Merry Christmas AND Happy Holidays!

Japan Curse, Iraq and the Deer Queen Elizabeth

I might as well re-title my blog to a dream journal... I had another crazy dream last night and I will just have to note the chapter points for now and catch up and fill in later, been too busy with holiday stuff coming up. Chapter starting points will start with a bold sentence. I really can't think of any other way to write this down, this dream did not really have good transitions.

Went to Japan with Alan and slept in grassy wood hill. - So Alan and I go to Japan in my dream and I did not want to stay in a hotel no matter how much Alan had insisted. I wanted to sleep outside on the most beautiful of green grass hills that I had ever seen. And why not, it was a clear sky and perfect weather. Alan was nice and said why not, so we did! We had torches and kind of camped around a bit just listening to nature. I remember smiling at him a lot.

Wood hut with symbol for man on my left woman on my right (no it was not a restroom). We soon found a really antique looking wood hut with our torches and I got to close to it and noticed it had a male symbol on the left and a female symbol on the right, kind of like the ones you would see at a restroom. I go up close to it to examine it and the female symbol engulfs itself with flames. I did not have the torch so it was not my fault but a spirit calmly speaks with me and informs me that I am cursed. The second this happens it starts raining maggots and Alan and I hide in a boat and use palm leaves to protect ourselves till morning. Sunrise and the spirit apologizes and thought I was someone else and lifts the curse.

Curse is lifted, Alan wants to go to Japan again and hike long distances. So that concluded our vacation to Japan and Alan said at the airport on the way home that he wants to go right back, but asks if I can handle walking a really long distance climbing hills with a heavy backpack. I remember giving him a look like 'gee thanks for forgetting my back problems', but said sure why not since he let me sleep outside. And so we start planning a new trip.

Instead of Japan we went to Iraq as kids during the war. next thing I know we both are little kids, like nine years old handing out in Iraq with some modern dayAmerican soldiers in the desert. They seemed happy and I asked why and they said the war was ending today. As a kid I don't think anything of it and think this should be a day for celebration. As a kid I did not think of how wars can end other then peacefully.

The War is about to end in fire. Then the soliders said today they will end it with fire. So the soldiers leave Alan and I up on a high cliff that lets us look at this beautiful city below in the desert. The soldiers go racing down and encircling the city in red mulch (the exact same brand as the kind in our garden...I remember thinking that was odd in my dream) and another group of soldiers run fast behind carrying flame throwers. I remember laying on my stomach gripping the edge of the cliff with my little hands and Alan doing the same very close to my right side.

Getting the innocent out with the artifacts just in time (I really love my artifacts two dreams in a row). The soldiers some how had an inside guy because he was making sure all of the innocent civilians are able to leave the city and they are all walking as calmly as can be in their beautiful robes. The next group of people are innocents in white robes holding precious artifacts from the city. They knew what was about to happen. Everyone looked so solemn and sad. The next group of innocents is a vast royal family.

Somehow I am now one of the innocent royals, but there are other royals trying to get through and they are being stoned alive. Even more royals are pouring out from the soon to be ravaged city and I realize I am one of them. On top of that, our enemies are at our sides throwing very large rocks and stoning some of us alive. It was horrifically bloody and tragic but what could any one do but just hope it does not happen to them as we made our way out. I notice just in front of me a small horse or pony it was also white and it carried a saddle that had a canopy made to look like a crown in deep reds and golds. Sitting in the saddle are two children a boy and a girl. Suddenly I realize these must be my children and I have a sudden and emotional need to see that they are safe.

The guards in light blue that protected the royal children on horse. Just as thought about my little children (I have none in real life but I count my kitties) and hoped they can make it of this alive, two sweet sweet people dressed in light blue, like faded denim come and stand on each side of the horse putting their lives ahead for the children. The children and the guards make it out safely, but I never see them again. In all of that chaos seeing them together made me feel some peace. The soldiers start to set the city on fire.

Suddenly I am the Queen Elizabeth with red hair. And now I am not only a royal I am suddenly Queen Elizabeth with fiery red hair and I start to panic. Why am I one of the most powerful royals in the crowd? I start thinking all of this walking calmly and with grace is pointless when these almost boulder sized rocks are being thrown at us like sitting ducks. So I run.

And I am running for my life and I leave the crowd of innocent and royals to my disgrace. I make a break for it and run and cry and scream and run far and fast away from everything just to get away from all of this and get somewhere safe. At that point I was selfish and did not think of others for a second. And this disgraced me, I was Queen Elizabeth I was supposed to put my people before myself.

Alan is the King of England, Henry the Eighth but that guy from the Tudors series but with Alan's face(makes no sense...but it was a dream). Alan was not there, but somewhere else I guess planning the attack on the city and making sure everyone was being escorted out of the city. He was also King Henry the Eighth which I am probably wrong but wasn't he Queen Elizabeth's father? Anyways he was the guy from the Tudors but he had Alan's face.

Alan is mad and yells because I ran and disgraced myself by not staying with the other royals and the innocent. When I rejoin Alan at a different place - castle he greets me with horrid anger and loathing and screaming. I had made a fool of him for running and disgraced my title. He wanted nothing more to do with me and asked me to begone from his eyes forever.

I am still Queen Elizabeth and I am at a castle and on a HUGE 10ft long letter I read my apology. I go into a short solitude, I am still queen, but things are different. I go back to Alan crying and begging him to take me back. I prove how sorry I am by standing in a cathedral with a huge 10ft wide parchment letter. The sun is shining into the room as I read my apology.

My apology said I was sorry for running like a scared Deer.

And then I woke up to the sound of the neighbors dog barking his little head off.

Anyone out there care to analyze my dream?

There are Ghost Towns in the Ocean

I am just tagging in some notes or what I would call chapters of this wicked crazy and long dream I had last night. Will come back and fill in the blanks after work, this will take me a good hour+ to get everything down when I get back. I have not had a dream like this in a long long time, and I even got to see it through all the way to the end for closure which is rare. And I was a guy in this dream but hey what can I expect this was a crazy crazy journey.

Taking over the ship
1890
Let the girl in bandages defend
Knowing I will lose the wager
The family and the wager, losing and going under water
Submerged, yet I can breath and not aging for over 50+ years
Collecting the artifacts
Finding the ghost town mansion under the ocean
Outwitting the she-ghost
ghost schooling
knowing when i can go home
asking the date up to the year
relief knowing i can finally leave
the dark haired doll
November 23rd 2009
returning to the surface, finding those who would know of my journey to my surprise
astonished of my findings
Finding the one who matches the doll

To be completed soon!

Count Squidula!

Those of you who know me, know I have a very massive collection of hats because I am obsessed with them. I can't remember how many I have but soon I will work on a shoot to display all of them and make it into a book.

As my dear friend Victorie says, "How do you find these things?" and I say "No you got it all wrong these things find me I swear".

So this introduces my newest treasure, my newest find, a new cherished work of art!

May I present to your attention please...(drumroll here) COUNT SQUIDULA!

This most awesome of hatties is made by a wonderful artist (who is pictured currently modeling this genius creation) named Josh Freeman. Very nice and prompt fellow too with wicked photography and he is also an actor.
You can view his gallery of work at his webgallery/site at: http://www.joshfreeman.com

I found him conveniently enough on Etsy.com and you can view his shop here: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5849939 .

Just send him a message if he currently does not have any Squid hats for sale, I am sure he can arrange it for your needs. And he does ship internationally!

P.S. The Coldplay concert was freaking awesome and they played most of my favorite songs, even ran through the aisle and played on top of the stairs for a few songs! Chris busted out laughing in the middle and it just made it that much more memorable. At one point millions of paper butterflies floated in the air and Alan and I shared wonderful romantic moments the whole night. It was so lovely!

But today I am tired, and I need to go to work soon and hopefully today will not be too crazy.

So I did actually order some of those wonderful Macaroons...and I was impressed. Not only did they arrive in perfect condition, they melted in my mouth with heavenly flavor. I am going to stop right there because Cathrine will kill me (but they were the very best I ever had).

If you do order them, be sure to enjoy them in 7 days, unlike 21 days posted on their website...like anyone could not devour them the instant they were delivered to their door! Will post a photo later on, even my cat Chugar could not resist a taste.

Going to see Coldplay tomorrow and I am more then a little excited. Been dying to see them live for a long while and every time they come to Houston a hurricane comes through and postpones the show. Got great great great tickets so it should spectacular, why I bet I could smell the sweat off the band members.

And the best news I have heard in a long time, my Smartcar ForTwo that I have been on a waiting list for two years for...is finally in port and clearing customs. I should be able to scoot around town at 42mpg in just a few days! It is all black on the outside and all red for the interior...and so many speakers that I will bounce down the highway.

And I bet you are wondering...what does this have to do with cats and how they live? Cats love to indulge on the important things in life like food, and my cat loves great music and Coldplay, and what cat does not like a sleek little toy to play with? By this observation I am content and purring knowing I am doing my best to live life like my cat would.

Scooting off for now,

Mouth Watering Macaroons!

So I was board at work the other day and decided to read up on the latest issue of Departures, Re-Mastering The Art of Living Well Now Nov/Dec 2008 issue and came across an article I could actually relate to.

The lovely article was about one of my all time favorite things in the world other then cats...MACAROONS!

Melt in your mouth heavenly goodness with a little creamy divine center. They even had an extensive list of tried and true places that not only create but also *gasp my still beating heart...* DELIVER.

Macaroons straight to my door...can life really get any better? The Internet is soooo my BFF now!

Out of all of the shoppes this one seems fit for me and please take a look!

They carry three 'lines' of macaroons: Assorted French (pictured above), Chocolate covered with gold leaf, and Holiday!

Anyways off to spend my hard earned moola on Christmas gifts and I might gift myself with a macaroon order.
